Overclocking server hardware to extract more performance than the hardware designers intended is easy and it's fun. Best of all, you end up with a high performance trading computer that runs rings around all of you competitors and practically prints money for you.
It was only because LinkedIn reminded me of an anniversary, that I spent some time digesting the last 12 months. It was around this time last year that Nick Rogers, MD of Exacta Technologies and I started collaborating together on a skunk-works project, formed outside of his main, and highly successful business building appliances for software companies.
High Frequency Trading, HFT, requires hardware and performance that's not available in typical off-the-shelf server packages. For that reason, the industry uses overclocked server hardware. HFT isn't without risks. BlackCore Technologies takes the view that buying overclocked hardware shouldn't be one of them.
